Launch of Sri Lanka’s 1st Endowed Professor / Senior Fellow in Entrepreneurship

NDB Bank, together with the University of Moratuwa, announces the sponsorship of the ‘NDB Bank Endowed Professor / Senior Fellow in Entrepreneurship’.
The first of its kind; this initiative is in line with NDB Bank’s vision of bridging the gap between academia and industry by empowering youth to become nation builders and the University’s vision to make their graduates ‘Job Creators’ rather than ‘Job Seekers’
NDB Bank believes an entrepreneurial culture is essential for the sustainable development of the nation. We want to build a country where our youth will create opportunities not just for themselves but for others whilst developing the ‘doing business’ environment of Sri Lanka.

English Communication Programme

NDB Bank tied up with AFLAC International, to sponsor a three-month long English Communications Programme (ECP) for over 200 underprivileged children across Sri Lanka. Youth from schools, universities and even those employed will benefit from this programme. The objective of this project is to provide beneficiaries with an opportunity to learn to communicate effectively in English, giving them the competence to face job interviews and interact socially.  Also featured in the programme is a personality development component, which focuses on empowerment and confidence building. Students are also given guidance on how to write CV’s and office memos, manage job interviews, and other ‘soft’ skills.

Sanhinda Girls Home in Meegoda

A charitable institution for abused street children. At present there are 20 young girls ages ranging from 3 to 11 years.

NDB Bank has donated items such as Bunk Beds, Mattresses, Washing Machine, Steel Cupboards, Stationary, Steel Lockers, writing tables and other furniture needed by the Girls Home.

Tsunami Orphans

NDB Bank assisted 40 Tsunami orphans in Hambantota by giving them a monthly grant towards their education, health and nutrition. The Bank also opened Savings Accounts for these children to inculcate the savings habit as well as ensuring a secure future for them financially.
